Mike Ramey is the owner and lead instructor of “The Gang Line” which offers affordable anti- gang training and workshops on combating the problems posed by Modern Street Gangs. He has served as award-winning broadcast and print reporter, producer and talk show host, covering–among other topics–crime, juvenile justice and gang issues since the 80s.
“The Gang Line” offers law enforcement and non-law enforcement presentations on Modern Street Gangs, ranging from education and general gang ID, to prevention and intervention solutions. Mr. Ramey has made presentations to churches, schools and the general public. He is a Certified Street Gang Specialist, with Law Enforcement and Non-Law Enforcement level gang training & experience.
Mr. Ramey has a series of articles entitled “The Gang Line” on the Internet, giving parents an inside view as to the dangers of Modern Street Gangs. His writings include the syndicated columns “The Manhood Line” and “The Ramey Commentaries” have appeared in print and on line since the mid-90s.
Mr. Ramey, who resides in Indianapolis, Indiana, has served as a veteran substitute teacher, a former Probation Officer with the Marion County Juvenile Court where he received praise for his efforts as an Intensive Probation Officer and School-Based Probation Officer from both clients and the court. Mr. Ramey is an Ordained minister and pastor, thus he brings a spiritual perspective to his workshops and presentations on the dangers and risks of gang life, and the benefits of leaving gang life.
Mr. Ramey has also brought his anti-gang experience to the college classroom, where–in 2009 and 2010–he designed and taught the course UM-190 “Modern Street Gangs: Developing Urban Ministry Strategies” to those who planned to operate and serve in the urban ministry environment.
